Located on 176 acres, Lagoon Park Trails offers miles of natural surface single-track and double-track paths for bicycling and walking, running, bird watching, and photography.  Meandering through hardwood forest and pine flats, over meadows, along a creek and around a scenic lagoon, you can get an up-close glimpse of wildlife, wading birds, and water fowl.
The Trail is adjacent to Lagoon Park, a large regional park located in northeast Montgomery, Alabama. The developed area of Lagoon Park includes a softball complex, recognized as one of the premier softball facilities in the United States, hosting most of the area’s league and tournament play. Lagoon Park is also home to a 17-court tennis complex, an 18-hole golf course, The Grill restaurant, a Vita course, Pete Peterson Lodge, picnic shelters, and playgrounds.

The park covers approximately 432 acres composed of mature forests, meadows, wetlands, and creeks. It is through this wild and beautiful landscape that the Lagoon Park Trail meanders for over five miles.

The Lagoon Park Trails, Inc. became a 501(c)(3) corporation in September, 2016, allowing all gifts to be tax deductible.

History of the Lagoon Park Trail

In 2011, a group of local business people and interested citizens saw an opportunity to enhance an underutilized area between two parks and adjacent the city golf course. Today, the Friends of the Lagoon Park Trail is working to assist the city in the development of the trail. Through the partnership with the city, a grant from ADECA, and with the support of wonderful volunteers, the trail has become a beautiful reality.

The Lagoon Park Trail has primarily been developed and maintained through the generous support of numerous
military workdays and thousands of civilian volunteer hours. The Lagoon Park Trail Group receives no regular
government funding for upkeep and future development of the trail, thus we are totally reliant on corporate,
small business and personal contributions as well as endless volunteer labor hours. For the trail to be a place
that we are all be proud of and that we can all enjoy, we need everyone’s support.

This is your Park!
